Fennel essential oil, scientifically called Foeniculum vulgare, is extracted from the crushed seeds of the plant by steam distillation and is part of the botanical family of Apiaceae or Umbelliferae. It is a very widespread plant, from Europe, America to the regions of India or China. Fennel essential oil is known for its property of relieving digestive and menstrual problems, but also for its expectorant qualities. From an emotional point of view, fennel essential oil can be very helpful when mental stimulation, clarity and focus are needed. It is a strong protective oil that balances, centers and strengthens the body. Due to the high content of trans-Anethole (70-80%) it is recommended to use carefully in small dilutions, preferably with other oils, in blends.
