Jasmine essential oil is obtained from its flowers by extraction with solvents, thus obtaining an "absolute", by separation with alcohol. Absolutely natural oil is then obtained by steam distillation. It is native to northern India, China and Persia and is a perennial, climbing tree with fragrant flowers, especially at night. Its name comes from the Persian word "jasmine" which means "God's gift", thus being associated with love.
