Here the sweet and cool Autumn has come again to our lands, bringing distinguished and special aromas, which strengthen our senses and gradually prepare us for the cold period. The long shadows and the golden Sun, the soft and cool smell of the morning, the thick and mysterious fog, the sweet, fruity aromas, the smell of the dew-drenched forest and the spicy notes of the day, all these are lovingly given to us to charge our souls with Her energy. It's a wonderful time for those who embrace change and of course for us lovers of magical essences and beautiful smelling alchemy.
The wonderful Autumn brings with it cooler temperatures and richly colored leaves, making it a good time to enjoy synergies with warm essential oils such as Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg, Cardamom or Ginger. By their nature, these spicy oils are incredibly powerful and have a warming property. These are best used in blends with much milder essential oils, such as Sweet Orange, Lavender or Mandarin oil, diffused in our homes and rooms to warm our hearts and strengthen our immune systems. We use these aromatic oils with care and skill, in low concentrations, so as not to irritate our nose or skin. Along with the essential oils above, we have selected a few other oils chosen for their warm, spicy, aromatic, resinous and woody aroma, just right for the fall season we are in: Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Rosemary, Myrrh, Patchouli, Rosewood, Clary Sage, Sandalwood, Vetiver.
Essential oils from the citrus family are harmoniously complemented by these spicy-tomnatic oils, especially Sweet Orange, an abundant and light oil loved by most. During the cooler Fall months, I love to combine a few drops of Cinnamon, Clove and/or Patchouli with Orange, Mandarin or Tangerine oil for a sweet and exotic blend that warms my heart. And the essential oils of Bergamot, Lemon or Grapefruit can make some special mixtures together with Black Pepper, Clove or Nutmeg.
Natural woody and coniferous oils are also suitable in autumn, because the forest always gives us a fresh smell, but in this period the aroma of the forest is even fresher, thanks to the cold air that gradually envelops us and guides us towards Winter and the festive air. Pine, Cypress or Juniper oils bring a little of the scent of the forest into our homes and are complemented by the warm, sweet, earthy and fruity aromas that make up the Autumn bouquet, a synergy of natural oils.
Menthol essential oils such as Peppermint, Mint, Spearmint and Eucalyptus are also in demand during this period. They help us because they strengthen our immune system, unclog our nasal passages and help us breathe better and more fully. And Ravintsara essential oil is a must have during this time. It can also be applied topically, i.e. on the skin, along with a carrier oil, for its wonderful properties to keep viruses at bay and to be so powerfully protective.
What a wealth of flavors! What a diversity of oils perfect for such a fruitful, changing and refreshing Autumn! Autumn, Summer sleeps and undresses from the abundance of flowers, fruits and greenery, and soon we will also begin our hibernation in shades of grays and blues, whites and Silence.
