Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium) essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the peel of the fresh fruit, which is part of the Rutaceae family. The bitter orange tree is native to the tropical regions of Asia and Africa, and is now also cultivated in Italy, Spain, Morocco, India, as well as in South America and the Caribbean.
With a distinctive, slightly bitter and invigorating aroma, Bitter Orange oil combines the bright sweetness of Sweet Orange with the tonic notes of Grapefruit, offering a balanced and refined essence. Since ancient times, bitter orange has been used for its therapeutic and energizing properties, being a symbol of prosperity and vitality.
Known in Ayurvedic medicine as Narange, Bitter Orange was used to support digestion, reduce stress and revitalize the body. Today, nJoy Nature Bitter Orange essential oil is appreciated for its balancing effect and complex aroma, making it an inspired choice in aromatherapy blends that bring clarity, energy, and optimism.
Top note
Its bitter aroma is a synergy between the sweet and exotic tones of Sweet Orange essential oil and the slightly floral bitter shades of Grapefruit oil. It is a much more aromatic scent than that of Sweet Orange oil, with fruity and sweet aromas, complemented by tropical citrus tones full of freshness.
