Hyssop essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of leaves and flower buds. It is an oil that must be purchased with great care and understanding, being strong and intensely aromatic. Hyssop is considered a spiritual plant used since antiquity due to its potential to purify the mind, soul and improve the inner state. The name Hyssop comes from the Hebrew "azob" which means holy grass and has been used in temples and other sacred places as a purifying agent. It belongs to the mint family, Lamiaceae. Hyssop oil is among the 12 major oils that appear in Scripture. In alternative medicine Ayurveda it is recommended to use Hyssop against respiratory problems, colds, coughs or asthma.
